Setting up a portable mode on your MT4 is a useful thing when it comes to moving your software between different locations. Here is how it is done:
STEP 1
Locate your MT4 installation folder, right-click on terminal.exe file and select Create a shortcut.

STEP 2
Once the shortcut is created, right-click on it and select properties.

STEP 3
On the new window, find Target placeholder and type /portable at the very end of the path (including a backslash symbol in front).

STEP 4
Apply the changes and run the shortcut. Verify the proccess by going to File -> Open Data Folder, if you succeeded, the main MetaTrader4 folder should open. This way we can quickly make a backup of the MT4 along with all required files and settings.
